This years theme is "Lions: The Greatest Show on Earth". As Ring Master of this show we will focus on three rings of Lionism: Activities, Participation and FUN. Joined together they will give us a successful year.
LIONS BIOGRAPHY OF JOHN SCHOCK John Schock joined the Medford Crater Lions in 1966 and served until 1969. He was with the Guam-Marianas Lions club from 1969 to 1974 holding positions of Director, Tail Twister and Vice-President. After returning from overseas travels, he rejoined the Medford Crater Lions in 1976 where he served as Vice-President and President in 1979-80. He received an Extension award for assisting in Chartering the Ashland Earlybird Lions and became a member of the new club in 1980. He served as Secretary, Treasurer and in 1983-84 as President. He served as Zone chairman, Region 2, zone1 in 1979 and in 1981 Deputy District Governor. He remained an active member of the Ashland EarlyBirds serving as director until 1990 when he moved to the North California Coast. Unabled to assist in resusitating the two defunct clubs in Del Norte County. he joined the Crescent City Elks where he was an officer from 1991 to 97 and became Exalted Ruler in 1997-98. He moved to Brookings, Oregon in 2001 and joined the Brookings- Harbor Lions. He has held offices of Treasurer and since 2003 Secretary . He received Lion of the Year awards from Medford Crater in 1980, from Ashland Earlybirds in 1985 and from Brookings-Harbor in 2006. Brookings-Harbor presented him with a Melvin Jones Fellowship in 2005. He earned a Progressive Melvin Jones in 2008 John is married to Lion Areta, who has been the Treasurer of Brookings Harbor, Zone chairman and past Lioness president (Crater) and they have one son, John. Other activities are training officer for two Elks Lodges; Crescent City and Brookings, Elks State Ritual Judge, OSU Master Gardner in Curry County and Brookings Garden club Holiday committee chairman . He is presently on an extension committee, recently chartered a new club in Crescent City, Calif. (part of 36E) and along with Areta are guiding Lions for the new club. Along with his wife, he completed the Pacific Northwest Lions Leadership Institute and the Faculty Development Institute in 2007. He and Areta attended International convention in Chicago, USA/Canada forum in Grand Rapids and Mexican eyeglass and vision Mission in Manzanillo in 2007 |
